VIETNAM GIVES CUBA 5000 TONS OF RICE

On July 1, 2020, in Hai Phong, the General Department of State Reserve (DTNN) held a symbolic awarding ceremony of 5,000 tons of rice to the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam. This rice is a gift of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Cuba.
At the ceremony, Mr. Do Viet Duc - General Director of the General Department of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam said that following the Politburo's direction on a number of support and cooperation activities with Cuba in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, to Sharing and supporting the Cuban people in overcoming a part of food difficulties, the Party and State of Vietnam decided to export 5,000 tons of rice from Vietnam's national reserve as a gift to the Party, the State and people. Cuban people.
5,000 tons of rice exported from Vietnam State Reserve (in Hai Phong); rice is packed in 200 containers, each container holds 25 tons of rice and is transported into 5 trips, 40 containers each; The first batch of rice leaves Hai Phong port in Vietnam to Cuba on May 31, 2020; the last batch of rice (the 5th trip) left Hai Phong Vietnam port to Cuba on July 3, 2020; The estimated time for the first batch of rice to arrive at Mariel is July 29, 2020; Estimated time of the last batch of rice to Mariel port is before 10/10/2020.
On behalf of the Government, Cuban people, Ms. Linanys Torres Rivera thanked the meaningful gift that Vietnam awarded, especially at a time when the whole world was affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
“In order to share the difficulties with the Cuban people during the Covid -19 pandemic, Vietnam has exported rice from national reserves to help the Cuban people. The Cuban people sincerely thank the noble gesture of the Vietnamese people "- Ms. Linanys Torres Rivera emphasized.
