General Director of Customs: Must buy enough new reserve rice for export
Before the public opinion questioned signs of policy profiteering when exporting 400,000 tons of rice, Mr. Nguyen Van Can, General Director of General Department of Customs confirmed that this was not the case.
Talking to the press on April 14, Mr. Nguyen Van Can, General Director of the General Department of Customs, said that the electronic customs clearance system of Vietnam Customs was sponsored by the Japanese Government and was cleared from these few years. All declarations and customs procedures are made electronically 24/7, that is, enterprises declare anytime, anywhere, without the intervention or subjective impact of customs officers.
In comparison with the Government's administration of rice export and implementation of the Minister of Industry and Trade's decision on rice export quotas, from 0h April 12, the customs clearance system of the open customs office will receive the declaration. Accordingly, businesses automatically register their declarations as for other goods, but only the condition is limited to 400,000 tons of rice.

The rice export quota in April has expired
“From 0h to 6:15 am on April 12, enterprises have registered rice export declarations and the system shows the total amount of rice reaching nearly 399,990 tons. Thus, the balance of nearly 11 tons. Therefore, if enterprises send declarations that register for export of more than 11 tons, the system will not accept them, ”Mr. Can said.
Commenting on the policy of managing rice exports, Mr. Nguyen Van Can said that the General Department of Customs and the Ministry of Finance also made a written request to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government to purchase enough national rice reserve. to export. On the other hand, for rice exporters, they should consider quota bidding or still allow for clearing on the customs declaration system as currently but must limit the maximum number of declarations.
"With the task of customs management, to ensure transparency and operation of the rice export business, we will update every hour about the number of businesses on the website of the General Department of Customs," said Nguyen. Van Can shared.
