Keeping the export proposal of 400,000 tons of rice in April

On 6-4, according to the source of Tuoi Tre Online, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh sent a report on rice export in the context of epidemics and drought, saltwater intrusion, under the direction of the Prime Minister. Chess on March 31.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to allow continued export of rice but must strictly control the amount of each month, of which the amount of rice allowed to be exported in April is 400,000 tons.

In the last week of April, based on disease developments and reports of ministries and agencies, the Prime Minister will consider and decide the direction of rice export management for May.

As such, this latest proposal of the Minister of Industry and Trade is basically the same as the report and proposal of the inter-sectoral mission submitted by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh to the Prime Minister on March 28.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the volume of rice of the winter-spring crop can be exported is 3 million tons, if including the amount of rice transferred from 2019, it will reach about 3.2 million tons, of which food security needs in April. and May 2020 needs 300,000 tons to implement the purchase plan of the General Department of State Reserve in 2020.

In addition, ministries and agencies agreed to retain an additional 400,000 tons to reserve for every possible situation in April and May.

Thus, the total amount of rice retained for domestic demand in April and May is 700,000 tons. Subtracting the amount of rice exported, the remaining rice for export in April and May is 800,000 tons.
