ST25 Rice won the first prize

On November 3, the 2nd Vietnam Delicious Rice Contest 2020 organized by the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) with 14 participating products.

The group of fragrant rice, the ST25 rice of Ho Quang Tri company, won the first prize in fragrant rice; sticky group is OM406 product of Mekong Delta Rice Institute won the first prize.

The jury is judging rice products to participate in the competition
Contest rice products include 2 categories: fragrant rice and sticky rice. Rice varieties must be selected and created in Vietnam, circulated or sent for the national testing for at least 1 crop. Products with minimum purity of 98%, no yellow seeds, spoiled seeds, young green seeds and red stripes. The jury of the competition included the Vietnam Food Association, the Vietnam Chefs Association, the Southern Seed and Plant Product Testing Center and Ho Chi Minh City Vinacontrol Inspection Co., Ltd.

According to the Organizing Committee, the three criteria to determine the best type of rice are the rice sample before cooking, after cooking and the description of the rice's characteristics. Besides, it is required that rice before cooking must have uniformity and color; Rice after being cooked into rice must have whiteness, aroma, ductility, sweetness, purity and keep the grain intact.

According to the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the competition to find Vietnamese delicious rice aims to boost domestic production, consumption and export. This contest also provides the opportunity for winning products to be taken to the world. The next good rice competition, the department will expand to add high quality fragrant rice
